The Shapes of Oslo is a collection based on stories of Norway’s capital city; All processes have been explored with cross dye and devoré techniques. I first created a large laser cut piece with all my collected shapes and from this I found stories within it and shape compositions. My final pieces are wall hangings created in velvet with selected shapes being placed with corresponding colour schemes from my time in Oslo.
Abstracted Cultures: Degree Show 2019
I created Abstracted Cultures which is an illustrated textile collection focusing my own experiences of countries that I have visited. Norway, The Netherlands and Switzerland are featured and are illustratively translated onto fabric showcasing my memories with each place and the object it is designed onto.
7” laser cut acrylic records with UV printed designs based on a collaboration between Siobhan Horner and I in early 2019. The designs are based on Siobhan’s narrative of a young boy with suspected autism, showing signs of obsessive behaviour with certain colours and objects. Colourful liquorice and socks are illustrated onto the records, as music is the only thing which calms him back into reality.
Live project: SCVA 2018/19
